Gas Bottle Removal

Dear Residents,

RE: Disposal of Origin 45 kg gas bottles:

Alan Mott, Ranger North and South Currigee campgrounds has kindly volunteered to collect the empty 45 kg gas cylinders from the residences at Currigee and transport them to Tipplers.

Please leave empty cylinders on the ground beside your garbage bins for collection.  Thanks to Alan for this kind offer.

Also, a pair of Hacket Fitzroy prescription glasses were found on the Surf Beach on January 4th by a resident.  If you think you may have dropped them please reply to contact@currigeefootprints.com

Kind regards,

Gas Update Jan 20

Currigee Gas Update
As you are no doubt aware, our gas supply issue has yet to be resolved. We have tried a political approach through both the previous and current state governments and have got no worthwhile traction – as much as we wish there was, there is no legislative obligation for any supplier to continue to supply us and hence current government are politely washing their hands of it all. It is just not a vote winning issue at all.

Our only option is to find a commercial solution.

To this end we have investigated every option that we have been able to identify. We are presently discussing one possibility and to assist us in the process I ask that each household complete the attached survey to give us an accurate estimation of our likely demand and the methods to deliver this service.

We will provide more details and background once/if this possibility comes to fruition – in the interim both a quick and honest response from as many households as possible is very important to get an outcome here

Gas Supply on Currigee

Dear Residents

We continue to seek a solution to our gas supply problem.  The timing and result of the State election has not helped the situation at all.  Although Verity Barton did win the seat of Broadwater, her colleagues did not win enough of theirs!  Consequently, her ability to assist us is somewhat diminished – to say the least.

(The meeting Verity was scheduled to have with Cameron Caldwell of City of Gold Coast Council on January 5 to discuss our plight never occurred as the election was called a day or so before!) .

On the flip side, Anna Palaszczuk is on record as saying that  “that there would be “no development … pure and simple” on Wavebreak Island”   – see http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/asf-consortium-willing-to-make-changes-to-save-wavebreak-island-cruise-ship-development/story-fnj94j0t-1227216776543

On a positive front, I have been referred to a wholesaler who has expressed interest in supplying the Currigee community. This will still require support from the Gold Coast Council and that are having some preliminary discussions.  To assist their investigations, they would like to get an idea of the number of gas appliances that are in the Currigee community – not the number of houses connected to gas, but the actual number of appliances.

Therefore to assist this process, grateful if you could take about 30 seconds and fill in and submit the attached survey.  There are no promises this will work, but it is worth the effort.
